But if you just cover up the front panel, you probably couldn't see them at all. I haven't had a Comcast gateway in a while, but I don't believe the LEDs really bled through the case holes. If you receive a dual band gateway, there will be two WiFi lights for both bands. If you have a battery, that light will be active as well. If you have phone service, the phone lights will be a steady white, and will blink white when a call in coming in/going out. The online light is a steady white, except for when connecting. The DS/US light is steady white, except for when connecting. The power light is a steady white, except for when booting up(it might be steady there as well, but I can't remember). (replace white with blue for applicable gateways) Almost all of them have white or blue solid/flashing lights. I assume that there must be at least a few on the list of devices that work with Comcast service.Īll Comcast supplied wireless gateways come with the same kind of design. I am just interested in a device which has a relatively solid body and which doesn't emit light from all sides. I have always covered them with electrical tape. I understand computers, and can troubleshoot them in most cases without using LED light indicators. I've been working with internet-connected devices ever since the 1990s, when I had a 300 baud modem. And like I said, since most of the colors of LED lights look the same I don't have any need or desire to see the connected light. The activity light, a light which generally flashes repeatedly, is one that I *particularly* want to cover with electrical tape. Looking at LED lights is physically painful to me. This next thing is something a lot of people may not take seriously, but I am also autistic and have sensory processing disorder. I have color-deficient vision, and all red, green, yellow, orange, and amber lights look basically the same to me. I want ones whose lights are visible from only one surface, likely the front, and I want to put a piece of electrical tape over the front so that I can't see any of those lights. The devices whose bodies are covered with holes and which have a light coming from the center are the ones that bother me, because I know that I can't cover each and every one of the holes with electrical tape. I just want one whose body is not covered with holes, so if I were to put electrical tape over the LEDs it would entirely black out the light from the device.
